Is it possible to change your existing Customer Engagement Plan license to a Sales Professional license?
Since the Dynamics 365 Customer Engemant Plan has been retired as of October 2019 and cannot be purchased/renewed anymore after their upcoming renewal date, this seems like a legit question. However, getting a clear answer to this question seems a bit hard. Let us help you out here.
As the Sales Professional license only provides rights to limited Sales functionalities, and the environment is now deployed with the full Enterprise capabilities. At the moment Microsoft can’t restrict this based on licenses, thus Sales Professional users will have access to Sales Enterprise functionalities which is not allowed. Therefore to make sure no Enterprise capabilities are present in an environment used by Professionals, a redeployment of the instances will be required (and please do expect that in the near future technical enforcement will be applied by MS, similar to the Team Member licenses coming April release).
Also your customizations needs to be inline with the Sales Professional rights of course, with a maximum of 15 custom entities per app.
Additional note: it is not allowed to combine both Sales Enterprise and Sales Professional within the same environment.
